Edinburgh Schools Kayak Club was established in 2011. The club are now based at Meggetland Sports Complex and from Easter to October will be delivering sessions on the Union Canal on Friday afternoons. The club currently have pupils involved from 3 Edinburgh Secondary schools and 3 primary schools and are always on the lookout for more enthusiastic paddlers from Edinburgh Schools to get involved. The club can cater for those just wanting to try the sport for the first time through to experienced paddlers. The club aims to create a pathway for Edinburgh's school pupils to become involved in kayaking and canoeing.

Head Coach and PE teacher, Cynthia Berry, has a vast amount of experience in the sport, having been involved in the sport at all levels. From administrative roles (Director of Scottish Canoe Association 2013 to 2015, Great Britain Team Selection Panel 2015 and 2016 ) through to competing at the highest level,  winning 3 World Championships Bronze Medals. She holds numerous coaching qualifications including; British Canoeing level 3 Canoe and Kayak coach, British Canoeing level 2 Slalom Coach British Canoeing level 3 Wild Water Racing Coach. There is also a team of dedicated volunteers that support Cynthia with the sessions. These volunteers include; Ex GB Olympic Team Slalom Coach and current Scottish Team Slalom Coach.
